Top European prospects Nathaniel Wood and Jack Shore set for action at CWFC 92

Two of the most highly touted prospects in the UK and Ireland, Nathaniel Wood and Jack Shore, will be in action at Cage Warriors 92: Super Saturday on March 24 at the Indigo at the 02 Arena, London.

MMANytt.com first broke the news on Friday morning before Cage Warriors confirmed the bouts via press release.

Wood (12-3) will look defend his bantamweight title for a second time when he takes on surging Italian Luca Iovine (12-1), who carries and eight-fight win streak into the contest.

Londoner Wood is coming off his viral knockout win over Josh Reed at Cage Warriors 86 in September. He won the Cage Warriors title when he scored a first round TKO over previously undefeated Marko Kovacevic. He won the chance to fight for the belt when he took a win over UFC veteran, Vaughan Lee (14-13-1).

Lee will provide another litmus test for another UK fighter on a meteoric rise, Jack Shore (7-0). The winner of the bout will take on the winner of the championship bout between Wood and Iovine.

Shore secured four wins in 2017. He graduated to the professional ranks after winning the IMMAF European Open in 2015.

Following his last win over Ayton De Paepe, then featherweight Shore declared his interest in moving down to bantamweight to challenge for Wood’s title. CWFC 92: Super Saturday marks his first run out in the lighter weight class.

Lee went 3-5 under the UFC banner during his four years with the promotion from 2011 to 2015. His last visit to the Octagon resulted in a unanimous decision loss to Paddy Holohan at UFC Fight Night 72 in Glasgow.

Cage Warriors has promised to deliver four world title fights across two main cards for the Super Saturday festivities. Previously announced for the event, light heavyweight champion Karl Moore is set to contest for the heavyweight title against Mauro Cerilli.

“This just turned into an even bigger night for the future of European MMA,” said Cage Warriors president Graham Boylan in reaction to the addition of Wood and Shore to the card.

“Both Wood and Iovine have been laying waste to the best in the bantamweight division for years, so it’s finally time they meet. For Shore and Lee, this is the fight which proves who really deserves to be challenging for a world title later in the year.”
