Humberto Bandenay will be returning to the Octagon next month.
The Peruvian fighter has been booked to fight former Legacy Fighting Championship titleholder Steven Peterson in a featherweight contest at UFC Austin (UFC Fight Night 126), which takes place on Feb. 18 at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin, Texas.
The news of the booking was announced by the promotion on Wednesday night.
This bout will be Bandenay’s second fight in the UFC. The 23-year-old made his UFC debut on short notice back in August where he knocked out TUF: Latin America 3 winner Martin Bravo at UFC Fight Night 114 in Mexico. The knockout over Bravo earned Bandenay a $50,000 Performance of the Night award, which he used to help his family in Peru after the passing of his father. Bandenay is currently 14-4 in his MMA career, and trains out of Team Oyama in California.
Meanwhile, Peterson, a former Legacy FC bantamweight champion, will be making his promotional debut at UFC Austin. Peterson, 27, holds a professional MMA record of 16-6. “Ocho” competed at Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series 7 last summer when he lost to UFC contract winner Benito Lopez in a split decision.
