Jeremy Stephens didn’t have a bad Sunday night.
The veteran featherweight fighter picked up a second-round knockout over prospect Doo Ho Choi in the main event of UFC St. Louis, along with an extra $50,000 bonus for Fight of the Night. Choi was also given a $50,000 bonus for his efforts. The news was announced by the promotion following the event, which took place on Sunday night at the at Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Mo.
Two other Performance of the Night bonuses were also given out.
Mexico’s Polo Reyes took home an extra $50,000 for his solid knockout over the unbeaten Matt Frevola. The Ultimate Fighter: Latin America 2 cast member stopped Frevola with a hard left just 60 seconds in to the fight. Reyes is now 8-4 in his MMA career, and 4-1 in the UFC.
Featherweight Darren Elkins took the other Performance of the night bonus. The Team Alpha Male fighter scored an impressive second-round submission win over long-time UFC lightweight staple Michael Johnson. This is Elkins’ second POTN bonus in the UFC. “The Damage” is now on a six-fight win streak at 145 pounds.
