Former UFC lightweight contender Michael Johnson (17-13) made his featherweight debut against Darren Elkins (24-5) on the night’s main card, which aired live on FOX Sports 1. Round 1: And the fight is off to a fast start. Elkins and Johnson already trading heavy leather. Johnson pressing Elkins a lot and landing some hard shots. Nice leg kick by Johnson followed by a right hand. Four minutes left. Oh, Johnson connects witha left hand. Johnson looks to have found Elkins’s timing. A on-two lands for Johnson. The pace of the fight is slowing down a bit. Three minutes left. Elkins is now bleeding from his nose. Nice jab by Elkins. Godd left hand by Johnson. Johnson doing most of the pressuring. Johnson has been very effective with his straight left. And Johnson connects with a hard shot, Elkins tries to answer with a super man punch. Thirty seconds left. Man, Johnson is lighting up Elkins on the feet. The bell rings.

Elkins submits Michael Johnson, spoiling Johnson’s featherweight debut.
