Less than 48 hours away from his next fight, Zak Cummings has been removed from UFC St. Louis.
Officials announced the withdrawal on Friday. Cummings was scheduled to fight veteran Thiago Alves on the televised preliminary portion of Sunday’s card at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Mo. A women’s bantamweight bout between Irene Aldana and Talita Bernardo has been moved up from the Fight Pass prelims to replace the Cummings-Alves encounter.
Responding to a comment on Twitter, Cummings said his injury was due to slipping and injuring his head:
I’m absolutely fucking devastated right now. This one of the best cuts I’ve ever had and slipped while moving from the tub to the ground and cracked my fucking skull on a handrail. I’ve missed most of my 3 months olds entire life! You disgust me

The Ultimate Fighter 17 alum was looking to win his third straight bout and fifth in his last six. Alves, a one-time UFC welterweight title challenger, was also coming off of a win, having defeated Patrick Cote by unanimous decision last April.
