Bryan Caraway is staying close to home for his return to the Octagon.
The Las Vegas resident will meet prospect Cody Stamann at UFC 222 on March 3 at T-Mobile Arena, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported Wednesday night.
Caraway (21-7) has won two straight and four of his last five fights. The seven-year UFC veteran would be closing in on bantamweight title contendership with a victory against Stamann. Caraway, 33, has compiled an impressive 6-2 record in the promotion. He has not fought since a unanimous decision win over Aljamain Sterling in May 2016.
Stamann (16-1) is one of the best up-and-comers in the 135-pound division. He’s coming off an upset victory over fellow prospect Tom Duquesnoy at UFC 216 in October. Stamann, 28, is 2-0 in the UFC with both victories coming in Las Vegas and he’s won nine fights in a row overall.
UFC 222 will be headlined by a featherweight title fight between champion Max Holloway and former lightweight champ Frankie Edgar. A co-main event has not yet been made official. Also on the card, Brazilian jiu-jitsu ace Mackenzie Dern will make her UFC debut against Ashley Yoder.
