One of the biggest secondary storylines coming from the spectacle that was Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Conor McGregor, was the emergence of Paulie Malignaggi in the MMA consciousness. Malignaggi was a sparring partner of McGregor’s for a brief time before their relationship soured from a dispute over sparring footage. The fallout from that has led to Malignaggi beefing with McGregor as well as other MMA fighters and fans.
Now you can also add MMA commentators to that list.
On the most recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience Fight Companion podcast, UFC commentator Joe Rogan said that Malignaggi should “shut the f**k up” because Malignaggi has no chance in a fight against any good MMA fighter.
“He should shut the f**k up because if he wanted to have a UFC fight he can go over there and get his brain kicked in,” said Rogan. “He’s out of his mind. Stop talking. You’re a boxer. You’re a very good boxer. Just shut your mouth.
“There’s literally a million people in the world that could grab you and strangle the life out of you and there’s not a god-damn thing you could do about it. Sorry dude. Don’t talk s**t. They will give you a wrestler and he will punch your f**king face into pulp and there’s not a god-damn thing you could do about it. Not a god-damn thing.”
Malignaggi is a former two-time world champion in boxing who retired earlier this year. He says he wants to fight McGregor regardless of money but has established that he only wishes to do so in a boxing contest, not an MMA fight. But Malignaggi has taken shots at MMA fighters over social media, including current featherweight champion Max Holloway. But Rogan, who is actually on board for a McGregor-Malignaggi boxing match, says this is stepping over the line and Malignaggi doesn’t know what he would be getting himself into.
“What does Paulie weigh? [1]45 right? How about you give him Ricardo Lopez. How about you give him Yair Rodriguez, how about that? Give him a guy that’s not the top of the food chain. Don’t give him Frankie Edgar, don’t give him Jose Aldo. You don’t need to do that.
“Imagine what Max Holloway would do to Paulie Malignaggi in an MMA fight. Just imagine it. Just try to wrap your head around the kind of a**-f**king he would receive. Max Holloway would literally kill him if he wanted to. Literally kill him.”
Rogan goes on to say that Holloway would likely lose to Malignaggi in a boxing match but that he would have a chance because of his footwork and conditioning, as opposed to the complete lack of a chance Malignaggi would have grappling with Holloway.
But despite Rogan’s low opinion of Malignaggi’s chances in the Octagon, there is one current UFC fighter Rogan says Malignaggi could beat if he ever decided to venture into MMA.
“He’d probably f**k C.M. Punk up.”

He made a ton of money and is leaving the game without sustaining serious injury or long-term damage. That is the goal of prizefighting.
He has always done it his own way. @Benaskren has made the best look like amateurs. He won at prize fighting. Leaving the sport untouched.
