Ryan Martin vs. Francisco Rojo

Round 1: And we’re rolling! Tonight’s Canelo vs. GGG pay-per-view is live. Lightweights are up first. Russell Mora is the third man in the ring. Michael Buffer does the honors, they touch ‘em up and we’re off. Martin takes the center of the ring and paws out a few jabs. Rojo punches to the body, and again. Rojo fires a left hand through the guard of Martin. Rojo catches Martin with a nice two-punch combination, Martin responds with a flurry of his own. Martin keeps Rojo on the end of his jab, then unloads with a three-punch combination. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9 Martin.

Round 2: Martin stays busy with his jab. Martin smacks Rojo in the chin with a nasty counter hook. Rojo fires back and switches stances. Rojo sneaks an uppercut through the guard, but Martin stands his ground and answers with punches of his own. Nice one-two lands from Martin. Rojo flurries but misses everything. Round 3: Martin triples up with his jab. Rojo bulldozes inside and clinches. Martin steps back then unleashes a nice four-shot combination, mixing high and low. Left hook lands for Martin. Rojo counters. Martin returns to his jab, pawing it out from distance. Rojo stalks Martin across the ring then connects with a left hook to the head. Stiff body shot lands for Rojo. Martin sneaks in a sharp right hand. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9 Rojo. (29-28 Martin.)

Round 4: Slow start to the round. Martin finally start letting his hands go, and Rojo returns fire. Martin works his jab then unloads on a left hook that is blocked. Rojo cracks Martin to the body then goes high with a one-two. That was nice. Rojo feels it now, he’s stalking Martin and firing. Martin sets his feet and flings out a pair of one-twos that settle Rojo down. Rojo over-extends on a right hook and eats a flurry of punches for his mistake. Rojo goes back to the body, while Martin stays back and picks his sots. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9 Rojo. (38-38.)

Round 5: Rojo walks Martin into a corner and starts unloading, but nothing lands flush. Lots of work inside this round, short shots flying from both men. Rojo walks Martin into the ropes but can’t find his mark with anything. Martin is staying busy with his jab, snapping it out in ones and twos. Oh, nice flurry from Rojo against the ropes. Martin responds with a one-two. Martin is landing cleaner now. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9 Martin. (48-47 Martin.)

Round 6: Rojo loads up and throws wildly with a right hand, but Martin slips it and smacks him with a counter flurry. Martin works his jab against the ropes. And again, and again. Martin covers up against the ropes and lets Rojo load up for a few big bombs, but nothing lands flush. Rojo snaps Martin’s head back with a jab. Martin is content to let Rojo lead this round. Martin continues to fall back on his jab, and it’s largely working. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9 Martin. (58-56 Martin.)

Round 7: Martin slips a shot then goes high-low with his counters. Rojo continues to bulldoze his way inside but he can’t get anything going. Nice left hook to the body lands for Rojo. Martin is letting Rojo be the aggressor here, but he’s not throwing much in response. Rojo doubles up inside with his uppercut, but Martin blocks it. Left-right finds a home for Martin. Martin connects with an uppercut. Rojo explodes with a flurry but misses. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9 Martin. (68-65 Martin.)

Round 8: Martin paws out a few jabs, then covers up and lets Rojo pound away at his guard. Clean defense there for Martin, who returns to his jab. Ooh, nasty low blow lands on Rojo. The referee stops the action. Rojo needs a second. Alright, we’re back. And it happens again! Mora warns Martin again but doesn’t take a point. The action continues and Martin goes to work with his jab. Rojo misses wildly then eats a one-two. And now Rojo is warned to keep his punches above the belt-line. Low blows for everyone! Round 9: Martin’s corner calls for their fighter to be aggressive and hunt for the knockdown. Martin comes out firing. Rojo eats a right hook, and another. Martin is staying busy here, not slowing at all. And no joke, there’s another low blow from Martin. Mora has seen enough — he takes a point. It was bound to happen. The action continue and Martin connects with a crisp one-two. He’s beating Rojo to the punch on everything here. Nice short right hand lands on the chin of Rojo. Rojo throws hard and connects with one shot of his combination. It’s not enough. MMA Fighting scores the round 9-9. (87-83 Martin.)

Round 10: They stand and trade for a few exchanges. Martin dances to the center of the ring and goes back to work with his jab. Rojo is throwing a lot but not landing hard with anything. Martin digs to the body then goes up high. Rojo walks Martin back to the corner but can’t do much with it. They slug it out to the end. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9 Martin. (97-92 Martin.)

Randy Caballero vs. Diego De La Hoya

Round 1: Super bantamweights up next. Robert Byrd is your referee. Caballero starts out fast, pawing out his jab and taking the center of the ring. They stand and trade, and De La Hoya gets the better of it. De La Hoya catches Caballero coming inside, sending him skittering into the ropes. He quickly recovers. De La Hoya circles and snaps out his jab. They clinch. Quick left hook lands for De La Hoya, followed by a straight right hand. Caballero goes high-low. They’re slinging it. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9 De La Hoya.

Round 2: De La Hoya snaps out a jab, then goes hard to the body. De La Hoya drops Caballero! Actually, no, replays show that it was a slip. Still, De La Hoya isn’t letting Caballero get a moment to breathe. De La Hoya jabs to the body. Caballero stalks De La Hoya into the ropes and unloads a flurry. They tangle inside and it looks like an accidental clash of heads happened there, with Caballero getting the worst of it. De La Hoya crushes Caballero with a hard straight right against the ropes. Round 3: Nice right hand lands by Caballero. De La Hoya throws wild and misses. They tie up and Caballero charges De La Hoya into the ropes. De La Hoya smiles as they break. Caballero eats a stiff right hand. De La Hoya mixes it up, going high then low then high again as he storms forward with punches. Caballero answers with a body shot, then eats another flurry. Caballero has a nasty mouse developing under his left eye. De La Hoya connects with a hard cross off the counter. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9 De La Hoya. (30-27 De La Hoya.)

Round 4: De La Hoya goes hard to the body then finds a home for a one-two upstairs. De La Hoya is in complete control here. De La Hoya goes back to the body. They’re trading hard, short shots from inside the pocket, with Caballero getting the better of that exchange. They tie up again. Good right hand up the middle catches De La Hoya, but he recovers quickly and fires back. Caballero eats a left hook. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9 De La Hoya. (40-36 De La Hoya.)

Round 5: Caballero paws away with short shots, but he’s not committing to anything. De La Hoya responds with a flurry of punches. De La Hoya flurries again. De La Hoya digs a few uppercuts into Caballero against the ropes. They tie up, and again. De La Hoya catches Caballero to the head, and he’s hurt! De La Hoya swarms against the ropes! Caballero survives and clears his head, returning to the center of the ring. De La Hoya is enjoying himself in there. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9 De La Hoya. (50-45 De La Hoya.)

Round 6: De La Hoya catches Caballero with a right hand. They get close inside and Caballero stumbles backward. That’s a slip, not a knockdown. Lots of phone booth fighting. De La Hoya smacks Caballero in the chin, but Caballero just shakes his head. De La Hoya flurries but can’t land much. They clinch. Caballero bulldogs his way inside but eats a series of short punches for his troubles. They stand and trade in the center of the ring. De La Hoya coasts out the final five seconds. Round 7: They immediately clinch as Caballero tries to go to work inside. He’s unsuccessful with that. De La Hoya swings wildly and they clinch again. Caballero keeps forcing the issue inside, he wants no part of fighting from range. Byrd warns De La Hoya for getting dirty inside. Caballero clinches again, De La Hoya pushes him off then unleashes a flurry that misses. Caballero chases De La Hoya across the ring and clinches again. De La Hoya dances and circles after the break. Nice flurry from De La Hoya inside the clinch. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9 De La Hoya. (70-63 De La Hoya.)

Round 8: Caballero marches forward as De La Hoya paws out his jab to keep a distance. Halfway through the round and not much action to describe. Caballero misses with a wild left hand. Caballero goes low then high then low again. De La Hoya fires back, and they clinch. Big combination lands from De La Hoya off the break. De La Hoya feels it now — he wades forward slinging. Round 9: De La Hoya is in compete control of this fight, and Caballero has to know it. The damage under his left eye is getting bad. De La Hoya continues to stay busy, mixing up his shots as they clinch and trade off the break. De La Hoya paws out his jab to the body. De La Hoya tags Caballero hard with a counter right. Caballero is getting shaky now. De La Hoya is landing at will. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9 De La Hoya. (90-81 De La Hoya.)

Round 10: Caballero needs a knockout, no question. De La Hoya is shutting him out. De La Hoya jabs to the head and body. Slow going this round. De La Hoya is cruising. Caballero clinches, and they trade shots inside. De La Hoya circles and smacks Caballero with a left hand to the head. De La Hoya calls for Caballero to do something. Caballero answers and cracks De La Hoya with a hard right hand! Caballero goes head-hunting now! But De La Hoya does what he needs to do, cruising out the end of the round while throwing out potshots. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9 De La Hoya. (100-90 De La Hoya.)

Joseph Diaz Jr. vs. Rafael Rivera

Round 1: Next we move to the featherweights. Tony Weeks is the referee in charge of the action. Big opportunity here for Rivera, who accepted this fight on just four days notice. Slow, measured start for both fighters. Diaz lunges inside with a wild left, but Rivera returns fire with a nasty two-punch combination that lands flush. That one woke Diaz up. They’re trading; nice exchange from both men. Diaz is staying busy. Oh, Rivera cracks Diaz with a nasty counter shot out of the corner! Great round. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9 Rivera.

Round 2: Rivera paws away with his right hand, measuring distance. Diaz finally lunges inside and ties up. Diaz lands a nice body shot off the break. A lot of patience being showed by both fighters here. Diaz unleashes a three-punch combination, then cracks Rivera solid with a left hand from the clinch. Diaz walks Rivera into the corner and uncorks a few solid shots. Diaz goes to the body. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9 Diaz. (19-19.)

Round 3: Rivera eats a hard right hand and looks to fire back, but only hits air. Diaz hangs back and picks his shots. Rivera dances around the ring, but he’s not throwing anything; Diaz is content to let him do his thing. Diaz connects with a stiff jab to the body, then eats a counter uppercut. They trade left hooks. Diaz blocks a reckless right hook, then unloads with a flurry. Rivera blocks everything. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9 Diaz. (29-28 Diaz.)

Round 4: A lot of swinging in this one but not a lot of landing so far. That being said, Rivera is marked up under his right eye. Diaz pops out his jab, and again. Rivera times his shot then explodes across the ring with a salvo, but can’t connect. Diaz walks him back into the ropes and picks his shots. Rivera punches his way out of the corner. Diaz again pressures Rivera into the ropes. A real chess match going on here. Oh, Diaz starts unloading to the head of Rivera! Rivera is eating hard shots! Diaz continues to connect but Rivera survives to the bell. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9 Diaz. (39-37 Diaz.)

Round 5: Diaz had Rivera on the ropes at the end of the fourth there. Let’s see if he can capitalize. Rivera lunges forward with a reckless right hand that misses. Rivera misses again and eats a series of hard counters. Diaz totally has him timed, it seems. Diaz marches forward and pressures Rivera into the corner. Rivera pops forward with a right hand. Diaz goes body-body-head. Nice pair of counters land flush for Diaz. Three-punch combination connects for Diaz. Rivera stuns Diaz with a nasty left at the bell. That was nice, but not enough. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9 Diaz. (49-46 Diaz.)

Round 6: Slow first minute to this round, as Diaz stays at a distance and throws potshots. Diaz is staying busy with his jab. Rivera’s offense has slowed dramatically. Diaz unloads a three-punch combination to the head and body. Diaz snaps Rivera’s head back with a jab. And again! They’re trading now. Rivera stalks forward and eats a left hand. Things really picked up in that final minute. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9 Diaz. (59-55 Diaz.)

Round 7: Another slow start to the round, with neither fighter willing to engage fully. Lots of feints coming from Rivera, who finally lets loose with a winging right hand that misses. They clinch. Rivera marches forward trying to pick his shots, but Diaz is supremely comfortable here. Diaz mixes up his rhythm and unleashes with a salvo. Diaz catches Rivera with a right hand across the temple. Rivera rockets in a jab to the body. They clinch. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9 Diaz. (69-64 Diaz.)

Round 8: Rivera goes back to the body with his jab. Diaz paws out his jab, covers up as Rivera goes to the body, then unloads a pair of hard hooks to the head. Diaz wades forward slinging a five-punch combination. Nice left hand from Diaz snaps Rivera’s head back. Diaz cracks Rivera with another pair of stiff hooks. Rivera eats some hard shots as they swing until the bell. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9 Diaz. (79-73 Diaz.)

Round 9: This is completely Diaz’s fight. He’s in total control here. Diaz sneaks a left hand past the guard of Rivera. Diaz is the aggressor. He traps Rivera into the corner and goes to work with punches, but can’t find his mark. They clinch and start trading short shots. Diaz connects with a trio of shots to the head. Diaz is feeling it. Rivera eats another flurry. Two nasty right hooks land for Diaz, who walks Rivera into the corner and uncorks another salvo. Diaz is really turning up his intensity in this round. Round 10: Diaz digs to the body then goes high and cracks Rivera with his right hand. Credit to Rivera for gutting through this, because Diaz is cruising. Diaz unloads with a salvo of punches, culminating with a nasty uppercut that snaps back Rivera’s head. Diaz follows up with another flurry. Diaz has his hands completely down now. He’s picking Rivera apart. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9 Diaz. (99-91 Diaz.)

Round 11: Diaz is content to cover up and let his opponent try to get something going, but nothing is working for Rivera. Diaz wades forward and uncorks an uppercut into the body of Rivera. Diaz grits his teeth and flurries. Nice counter left hand connects for Diaz. Rivera eats a jab, and another. Big left hand cracks Rivera. And another! Diaz is busting Rivera up something fierce here. Another flurry nearly staggers Rivera at the bell. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9 Diaz. (109-100 Diaz.)

Round 12: Diaz picks up right where he left off. Rivera needs a knockout and he needs one bad. Diaz smacks Rivera to the body against the ropes. Diaz goes head-body with his jab. Another two-punch combination connects for Diaz. Four shots land flush for Diaz, who eats a hard counter for his troubles. They’re slugging now. Diaz flurries on Rivera against the ropes. Rivera lunges forward and eats a sharp counter as the bell sounds. All Diaz in this one. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9 Diaz. (119-109 Diaz.)
