A controversial decision at the last Fight Nights Global event in Dagestan was overturned.
Rousimar Palhares and Shamil Amirov faced off in a welterweight bout at the FNG 73 event in Kaspiysk, Dagestan, on Sept. 4, and Amirov was declared the winner in a controversial split decision. Eight days later, the Russian MMA Federation had decided to overturn the result to a draw.
Palhares’ manager Alex Davis confirmed the news to MMA Fighting following a report by Twitter user VestnikMMA.
“They changed it to a draw,” said Davis, who appealed the result after the fight. “I want to congratulate Fight Nights Global for being fair."
With the change, “Toquinho" now holds a 1-0-1 record under the FNG banner. In his promotional debut, the jiu-jitsu ace submitted Alexei Ivanov in 37 seconds. Amirov’s record now stands at 3-0-1.
