At UFC Fight Night 96 back in October, Brandon Moreno stepped in on one-week notice to take on then top-10 flyweight Louis Smolka in the main card of the event. That night, Moreno shocked the MMA world by submitting the Hawaiian fighter in the first round of the fight. The submission win over Smolka marked Moreno’s UFC debut.
Since the upset win, Moreno has picked up two more victories, defeating Ryan Benoit and most recently submitting Dustin Ortiz. Now, the 23-year-old Mexican fighter is scheduled to take on fellow prospect and ranked flyweight Sergio Pettis in the main event of Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 114. The event is set to take place at the Arena Ciudad de Mexico in Mexico City, Mexico.
