Mayweather vs. McGregor wagers result in biggest win ever for Las Vegas sportsbook

Floyd Mayweather took care of business against Conor McGregor, and that meant big business for Las Vegas betting sites.

According to Bovada SportsBook manager Kevin Bradley, Mayweather’s 10th-round TKO victory over Conor McGregor on Saturday busted the wallets of countless bettors who were banking on the UFC lightweight champion pulling off a historical upset in his first-ever pro boxing bout.

“As predicted, the amount of money and bets we took on the fight well surpassed the Super Bowl and it was our biggest wagered event ever, our biggest number of players ever, and also was our biggest single event win ever. As much as a rematch could be just as big, we will currently take our win,” Bradley told MMA Fighting.

That said, Bovada is already looking ahead, updating several futures bets based on Saturday’s outcome:

Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor - Will there be a boxing rematch in 2018?

Yes +700 (7/1)
No -1200 (1/12)

Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor - Will there be an MMA rematch in 2018?

Yes 33/1

Will Conor McGregor fight Nate Diaz before June 30th 2018?

Yes EVEN (1/1)
No -140 (5/7)

Will Conor McGregor fight Paulie Malignaggi in 2018?

Yes +300 (3/1)
No -400 (1/4)

Will Conor McGregor fight in the UFC in 2017?

Yes +160 (8/5)
No -200 (1/2)

The odds of Mayweather and McGregor having a rematch in 2018 whether it be in the ring (from -900 to -1200 in favor of “no”) or a cage (from 20-1 odds to 33-1 odds in favor of “no”) took a hit following McGregor’s loss, as is the possibility of him returning to the UFC in 2017 (from -175 to -200 in favor of “no”).

In addition, bettors can now try to splash some cash on whether they think McGregor will fight Nate Diaz in a trilogy bout or newfound rival Paulie Malignaggi (presumably in a boxing match, not MMA) next year.
