Francis Ngannou will not appear at UFC 215 after all.
The UFC was looking for an opponent to face Ngannou and replace Junior dos Santos on the Sept. 9 Edmonton card. But MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani has learned the search is over and Ngannou will not fight on the card.
Dos Santos, the former UFC heavyweight champion, was pulled from the bout on Aug. 18 after being provisionally suspended for a potential USADA violation pending a hearing. Dos Santos’ team has vigorously contested the charges.
No word yet on when the 10-1 Ngannou, who has achieved all of his victories via finish, will compete next.
UFC 215 is headlined with a double-title bill of UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson vs. Ray Borg and UFC bantamweight champ Amanda Nunes vs. Valentina Shevchenko.
