Old grudges die hard.
UFC president Dana White and Golden Boys promotion boss Oscar De La Hoya have been at odds ever since White took part in booking the blockbuster Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor bout for Aug. 26, just three weeks before De La Hoya’s biggest star Canelo Alvarez goes head-to-head with Gennady Golovkin.
If De La Hoya had tactful critiques of the bout before, that all went out the window on Friday when he wrote a furious tweet in all caps to decry the boxing vs. MMA fight:
The tweet was deleted (and then sent out again later), but White made sure to grab a screenshot so that he could share his own thoughts on the matter and “concern” over De La Hoya’s well-being:
One can only imagine how De La Hoya will react should McGregor actually manage to defeat Mayweather, arguably the greatest boxer of his generation.
