Round 1: Mark Smith is the referee for opening bout of the PPV portion of the card. Bit of a feeling out process early. Some exchanges but nothing landing. Font drives Andrade into the fence with a double leg and completes the takedown. Andrade gets right back up but drops down for a leg lock which fails and now Font has established top control. Andrade gets back up and Font has a guillotine attempt but nothing sticks. Now the two are back to the center throwing probing shots. Font lands a good combination including an excellent knee that rocks Andrade’s head back but also pokes Andrade in the eye. Time is called and Font is warned for the eye poke before the bout continues. Andrade is allowing Font to dictate the fight and Font is starting to pile up points in combination. Andrade lands a good left straight and then a left hook but Font lands a good counter knee. At the end of the round Font throws another knee, Andrade catches it and drives a takedown which Font concedes to as he attacks a guillotine until the round ends. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9 Font.
Round 2: Andrade needs to change something up here because he has been very ineffective but the opening minute is more of the same. Font is gliding in and out of range superbly and throwing in combination while Andrade is throwing single shots. Font lands an excellent left hand at the end of a combination that snaps Andrade’s head back. Andrad throws a kick but it’s caught and he’s tripped down but right back to his feet. Andrade lands his best punch of the fight, a heated right straight behind a jab. Font is still throwing more volume but Andrade is starting to find his timing some. Font lands an excellent combination and a clinch knee that has Font’s team thinking Andrade is hurt. He may not be hurt but now he is as Font blasts him and starts teeing off on Andrade against the cage. Font, somewhat puzzlingly, drops for a takedown and gets it but he’s not landing any strikes and Andrade is getting time to recover. Font has a tight guillotine and Andrade tries to slam out of it. Font doesn’t have both legs wrapped up but the choke is tight and Andrade taps!
Official Result: Rob Font submits Douglas Silva de Andrade with a guillotine choke at 4:36 of Round 2.
