Round 1: Marc Goddard is the third man in the cage for this heavyweight bout. Omielanczuk lands a nice lead uppercut to start but Blaydes drives Omielanczuk up against the cage and lands a knee to the inside of the thigh that Omielanczuk complains is low. The ref lets it go but now Blaydes lands an actual low knee and Goddard stops the bout and separates the two. Blaydes looks much more fluid on the feet but he drives Omielanczuk up against the cage yet again. Not much going on as Blaydes is just controlling against the cage and Omielanczuk is showing very good takedown defense. Blaydes breaks the clinch with a few strikes and two minutes into the bout they fighters are back at range. Omielanczuk lands a strong body kick. Blaydes telegraphs a shot and Omielanczuk defends easily but is still forced against the cage. Blaydes lands a couple of good knees to the body and the two break. Blaydes finally gets a good double leg attempt but Omielanczuk has clearly prepared and stuffs it yet again. Blaydes changes to a single but no success. Omielanczuk complains of another low knee but Goddard tells him the blow was legal and warns the fighters to increase the offense. Blaydes drives on another shot but Omielanczuk defends again and lands a good shot right before the bell. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9 Blaydes.

Round 2: Blaydes lands a good knee, right hand combination. His hand speed is good for a heavyweight and now he drives on another takedown while Omielanczuk lightly works for a guillotine. The boo birds come out and not without reason as this bout has lacked action. The two separate and are back at range. Omielanczuk looks like he might be slowing and Blaydes lands a good jab and low kick. Omielanczuk has been mostly swinging and missing but does land a clean shot to the body. Omielanczuk throws a body kick and Blaydes goes for a takedown but shotos under the leg. Omielanczuk lands a good knee as Blaydes drives in and that might be the best strike of the fight. Blaydes gets in on a shot but once again fails. Blaydes can’t get Omielanczuk down but the wrestling has all but frozen Omielanczuk’s offense. Blaydes has Omielanczuk up against the cage but he isn’t opening up and Omielanczuk is too concerned with defense to attack. Blaydes lands low again and Goddard stops the fight to vehemently warn him about that but doesn’t take a point. Blaydes clinches again and lands a right hand off the break with the bell sounding shortly after. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9 Blaydes.

Round 3: Omielanczuk’s corner tells him he needs a stoppage but it’s possible he doesn’t. Not much has happened so the cards could be even or even have Omielanczuk ahead. Omielanczuk tags Blaydes early but he shakes it off and after a few brief exchanges on the feet, Blaydes drives Omielanczuk to the cage yet again. He tries to lift a single leg but Omielanczuk has clearly put in the time and Blaydes is getting nowhere. Omielanczuk now house a mouse developing under his right eye. Omielanczuk lands a decent hook to the body. Blaydes appears to be the fresher fighter and he’s landing some jabs and right hands but Omielanczuk lands a strong left. Blaydes is opening up with his strikes more and it’s paying dividends as he’s landing much more often. Omielanczuk lands a good body kick. Blaydes snaps Omielanczuk’s head back with a straight right and then a strong uppercut but Omielanczuk fires back with another left. Now Omielanczuk shoots a very low single and Omielanczuk is holding onto the leg while Blaydes keeps his weight on top and rains down elbows. Omielanczuk almost finishes it but Blaydes scrambles and they’re back on the feet. Omielanczuk looks very tired now and Blaydes is working his jabs. Omielanczuk throws a spinning wheel kick that misses and the bout ends. The scorecards could be wild for this one. MMa Fighting scores this round 10-9 Blaydes, 30-27 Blaydes in total.

Official Result: Curtis Blaydes defeats Daniel Omielanczuk by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)
