There’s been a slight change to Friday’s UFC event.
Steve Bosse has withdrawn from his light heavyweight contest with Jared Cannonier for unknown reasons, and Cannonier will now take on late replacement Nick Roehrick at The Ultimate Fighter 25 Finale. The news was first reported by Shawn Bitter on Tuesday, and was also confirmed by MMA Fighting.
Cannonier is coming off a unanimous decision loss to top contender Glover Teixeira at UFC 208 in February. Prior to the loss, Cannonier was enjoying back-to-back wins over Ion Cutelaba and Cyril Asker. The 33-year-old fighter is currently 2-2 in the UFC and 9-2 as a professional fighter.
Meanwhile, his opponent Roehrick is considered a rising prospect in the 205-pound division. The 29-year-old remains undefeated in his MMA career with seven wins, and has already fought twice in 2017.
The TUF 25 Finale is set to take place this Friday at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nev. Top five lightweight Michael Johnson takes on recent signee and former WSOF champion Justin Gaethje in the main event of the card.
