This is the UFC 214 live blog for Tyron Woodley vs. Demian Maia, a welterweight bout at Saturday night's UFC event at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif.

Woodley, who is 4-0-1 over his past five fights, will square off against Maia, who has won seven straight fights, in the co-main event.

Round 1: Here we go, Tron Woodley defends his welterweight title against Demian Maia. The referee for this bout is Herb Dean. No glove touch here. Maia shoots on Woodley, gets close to finishing the takedown but fails. Again, Maia attacking with the takedowns against the cage, but great defense by the champ. They’re back on the feet. Maia pressuring Woodley here. Another failed shot from Maia. Good left hand by Maia follwed by a shot. Woodley defends. A lot of waiting here. Two minutes left. Maia shoots again, but Woodley stuffs the takedown with ease. The bell rings.

Round 2: Solid right hand lands for Woodley. Woodley is now controlling the center of the Octagon. Woodley clips Maia and Maia drops to the canvas. Nice left hand by Maia. Woodley now throwing bombs, walking down Maia. Maia’s eye is extremely swollen. Hard leg kick by Woodley puts Maia off balance. Maia with another failed takedown attempt. Good jab by Woodley, who’s now fighting more active. Two minutes left. Still very little action. Both fighters throwing punches to test range, but nobody seems to be committing. One minute left. No action till the bell rings.

Round 3: A very tactical fight here. Maia starts off with pressure and immediately shoots for a takedown, Woodley defends it. Woodley lands a shot to the body. Hard leg kick lands by Woodley. Things are not looking good for the Brazilian. Woodley with another good straight right. The fans are booing the action now, can’t blame them. Woodley with a good leg kick. Maia scores with a good left. Maia shoots and gets stuffed by Woodley. One minute left. Maia stalking down Woodley. A leg kick lands by Maia. The bell rings.

Round 4: Championship rounds. Maia takes the center of the cage, while Woodley circles in the outside. Not much action going on here. Maia lands a solid straight left and presses Woodley against the cage with a takedown. Woodley escapes. Woodley fires a right hand, but Maia blocks it. Two minutes left. Good inside leg kick by Maia. Both fighters just feeling each other out, not doing much. And the round comes to an end.

Round 5: Maia gets deep in a double leg, but Woodley stops the takedown. Perfect takedown defense for the champ tonight. And another failed shot by the Brazilain. Woodley keeps circling around the cage, defending takedowns. Three minutes left. Maia throws a head kick, but gets blocked. Again, Mia shoots and fails. Two minutes left. Maia connects with a straight left. ‘Boring’ chants break out in the crowd. One minute left. Good left hand by Maia. Maia shoots one final time before the bell rings.
