The strange, scary decline of Melvin Guillard continues.
On Friday, the former UFC lightweight contender found himself in a 185-pound contest against undefeated New Zealand prospect Israel Adesanya at Australian FC 20 in Melbourne.
Guillard didn’t make it out of the first round. In the closing minute, the 34-year-old fighter was battered all over the cage and the attending official let him absorb almost 30 seconds of unanswered strikes before finally waving off the bout.

The victory boosted Adesanya’s record to 10-0 and he walked out of the cage with Australian FC middleweight gold around his waist.
As for Guillard, this is his sixth straight loss dating back to Nov. 15, 2014. In his last 10 bouts, “The Young Assassin” has a record of 1-7 with two no-contests. He falls to 32-19-2 in his pro career.
Guillard is scheduled to compete at a Dual Combat Sports MMA event in Detroit, Mich., on Aug. 25 and it’s unclear whether this brutal loss will force him to withdraw from that booking.
