Rafael dos Anjos will be returning to the Octagon this fall.
The former UFC lightweight champion has been scheduled to take on top 10 welterweight Neil Magny at UFC 215. The news was announced by the UFC on Tuesday.
Dos Anjos had a successful welterweight debut against Tarec Saffiedine at UFC Fight Night 111 back in June. Prior to that, the 32-year-old was on a two-fight losing streak that included the loss of his 155-pound title to Eddie Alvarez. Meanwhile, Magny last fought in December where he defeated former welterweight champ Johnny Hendricks. Magny is 4-1 in his last five outings with his only loss coming to now Bellator fighter Lorenz Larkin.
Additionally, a lightweight match-up pitting Canada’s Mitch Clarke and Alex White was also added to the card. Clarke is coming off back-to-back loses to Michael Chiesa and Joseph Duffy. The 31-year-old fighter is 2-4 in the UFC, and 11-4 in his MMA career. Meanwhile, White last fought in January where he lost to Tony Martin at UFC Fight Night 103. The loss to Martin set White’s UFC record to 2-3.
UFC 215, which is being headlined by a two championships bouts in Demetrious Johnson vs. Ray Borg, and Amanda Nunes vs. Valentina Shevchenko, will go down on Sept. 9 at the Rogers Place in Edmonton, Canada.
