Conor McGregor rips Draymond Green in Instagram beef

Esther Lin, Showtime Sports

Conor McGregor will lace up a pair of boxing gloves and enter the ring with Floyd Mayweather Jr. in Las Vegas on Aug. 26.

But the UFC lightweight champion is making it clear that until he reaches that point, the gloves are off.

The latest to get burned trying to match wits with Mystic Mac is Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green, who posted to Instagram. Green, who has won two NBA championships piggybacking on superstars like Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant, took issue with McGregor wearing a Warriors No. 23 jersey, which is Green’s number.

“We rocking with Floyd bro not you... take that off bruh,” Green said.

The problem, though, was that the old-school jersey McGregor rocked represented C.J. Watson, who previously wore the number. Text messages between Watson and Mayweather’s ex-girlfriend led to a domestic violence incident for which Mayweather ultimately went to jail in 2012.

McGregor responded to Green in kind in a pair of messages, saying first “That’s C.J. Watson, mate. I don’t know who the f*ck you are. No disrespect tho kid, keep hustling and stay in school.”

“Now ask yourself why I’m rocking C.J. when I don’t give a f*ck about basketball. I dribble head off the floor. Not a ball. This is no game here, kid.”
