Round 1: Light heavyweights Patrick Cummins and Gian Villante are up. The referee for this bout will be “Big” John McCarthy. They touch gloves and the fight is on. Villante imediately looks to stay busy and begins to throw strikes. Cummins shoots for a takedown but fails. Cummins with another takedown attempt and this time pins Villante against the cage. Villante landing heavy elbows to Cummins’ head. Cummins is rocked and Villante follows up with a few punches. They throw heavy leather but nothing lands. The action is stopped briefly. The fight resumes and there’s three minutes left. Cummins has a bad cut on his head. Villante connecting with his jab. Big shot by Cummins followed by a takedown attempt that ends up pitting Villante against the cage. Villante breaks the clinch and the fight resumes on the feet. Cummins with another shot that gets Villante briefly on the ground. Villante gets back up but he’s pressed against the cage by Cummins. The bell rings.

Round 2: Villante throws a big uppercut but misses. Cummins with another failed shot. Nice leg kick lands by Cummins. Cummins really pressuring Villante, clinching up against the cage. Villante gets loose, and takes the center of the octagon. Villante’s striking output has decreased, while Cummins seems to be getting a little more comfortable on the feet. Cummins moving forward. Nothing significant is being landed from both fighters. Two minutes left. Good right hand by Villante. Cummins lands a leg kick. Cummins puts together a decent combination that lands. Solid jab by Cummins. Cummins rushes Villante and pins him against the cage briefly. They break loose and the bell rings.

Round 3: It’s a one round fight now. Cummins shoots for a single and Villante stuffs it. Good jab connects by Villante. A big right hand wobbles Cummins. Villante sensing blood, and he’s now pressuring Cummins. Villante puts together a solid combination. Villante connect with a jab. The pace has significantly slowed down. Cummins witha straight right. Cummins is now controling the cage and pushing Villante backwards. Big left hand connects for Cummins, but Villante absorbs it. Cummins now pins a tired Villante against the cage. The crowd boos. One minute left. Referee breaks the clinch. A big left connects for Cummins. Both fighters brawl it out in the very last seconds. The bell rings.
