UFC on FOX 25 live blog: Dennis Bermudez vs. Darren Elkins

This is the UFC on FOX 25 live blog for Dennis Bermudez vs. Darren Elkins, a featherweight bout at Saturday night's UFC event at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, N.Y.

Bermudez, who has won two of his past five fights, will square off against Elkins, who has won four of his past five fights, on the main card.

Round 1: Here we go with the co-main event of the card. Dan Miragliotta will serve as the referee for this featherweight contest. They touch gloves. Bermudez throws a knee to get things started but misses. Bermudez lands a solid left hook. Bermudez with two leg kicks that buckle Elkins. Bermudez fails with the takedown and Elkins takes his back from turtle position. Elkins now ridding Bermudez not allowing him to get back on his feet. Bermudez manages to get back on his feet. Big swing sets Bermudez off balance and Elkins ducks under and this time takes back mount. Elkins with solid back control. A minute left and Bermudez manages to get back up. The crowd cheers. In the last ten seconds Bermudez connects with a heavy shot, shoots, but Elkins imediately begins to threaten with the front choke. The round comes to an end.

Round 2: Bermudez taking the center of the cage. Elkins connects with a good right uppercut. Elkins clinches Bermudez, but the New Yorker reverses the position and puts Elkins against the cage. They break off. Elkins shoots a couple of consecutive takedowns but misses. Bermudez now completes a takedown of his own, but Elkins gets right back up to be pressed agaisnt the cage. Two minutes left. Solid shots from Bermudez as he breaks away from the clinch. Bermudez attempts a takedown against the cage, but fails. Elkins now threatening with another front choke/ten finger choke. Bermudez defends well, but Elkins now gets him on the ground. Bermudez springs right back up and the bell rings shortly after.

Round 3: Final round, lets see if the action picks up. Bermudez pressuring Elkins against the cage, again. Elkins defends, and breaks the clinch. Bermudez throws Elkins off balance and throw a flying knee that almost connects. Bermudez back at it again with the clinch control against the cage. Elkins gets out. Taking the center of the cage Bermudez is starting to find his rhythm, putting together combinations and landing a few leg kicks. Nice jab by Bermudez. Bermudez with some more clinch control against the cage. The stand up battle resumes and Bermudez connects with a hard left hook. Bermudez is now stalking down Elkins. With ten seconds left, Elkins attempts a takedown, but runs out of time before completing.
