Santiago Ponzinibbio scored a huge first round knockout over Gunnar Nelson in the main event of UFC Fight Night 113 on Sunday night in Glasgow.

Speaking after his big win, the Argentinian claimed that the UFC have a good opportunity to put on an event in his country on the back of his big victory.

According to the ATT man, there are a lot of fans in his home country that would love to see UFC host an event in that part of the world.

“Yes, I think that would be good if the UFC could go to Argentina,” said Ponzinibbio at the post fight press conference.

“This is a big opportunity (to grow the sport). There is a big expansion (for MMA) in the world. UFC is now in Latin America with Fox Sports. There are a lot of fans. People are very excited.

“The people in Argentina would like to see me fighting in Argentina. Maybe this is a good opportunity for the UFC to go to Argentina.”

Asked who he would like to fight next, Ponzinibbio claimed that he would be interested in meeting either Neil Magny or Carlos Condit, both of whom are ranked in the top-10 of the UFC’s welterweight division.

“It’s beautiful. I like this division, it (has a lot of) big talent. I’d like to fight Neil Magny, he’s number five (in the rankings). I’d like a fight with Carlos Condit, I think he is number five or number six. I’d like to fight these guys.

“I am ready for everyone in this division and for everything. I’m training very hard. This is my fifth victory in a row. I am ready for everything, but Neil Magny is a good match. It’s exciting for the people to see.

“Maybe in Argentina, that would be a good idea.”
