The UFC’s heavyweight division is always in need of prospects. And one will make his debut in September.

Arjan Bhullar, a former Olympic wrestler, will meet Luis Henrique at UFC 216 on Sept. 9 in Edmonton, the UFC told The Province this week.

Bhullar (6-0) won the wrestling gold medal at the 2010 Commonwealth Games and the bronze medal at the Pan American Games in 2007, both at 120 kg (about 265 pounds). The Canadian competed in the 2012 Olympics, where he was eliminated in the second round.

In MMA, Bhullar debuted in 2014 and has won all his pro fights thus far, most recently a unanimous decision over Joe Yager at Battlefield Fight League 48 in April. Bhullar, 31, trains out of Vancouver.

Henrique (10-3, 1 NC) is coming off a third-round TKO loss to Marcin Tybura at UFC 209 in March. The Brazilian was on a two-fight winning streak before the defeat. Henrique, 23, has not gone to decision in any of his four UFC fights.

UFC 216 does not have an announced main event yet. A featherweight bout between prospect Gavin Tucker and former WSOF champion Rick Glenn was made official last week.
