Brian Camozzi has a new opponent for UFC 213.
With Alan Jouban sidelined with a broken foot, Camozzi will now take on Chad Laprise on the July 8th pay-per-view event in Las Vegas. Sportsnet first reported the news.
Laprise (11-2) bounced back from the first losses of his MMA career in August, stopping Thibault Gouti. The Canadian talent, who won the Ultimate Fighter as a welterweight in 2014, returns to the division after a 3-2 run in the lightweight division.
Camozzi (7-3), a former 170-pound champion under the RFA banner, had a five-fight finishing streak snapped by Randy Brown in his Octagon debut last December, losing via second-round TKO. All of Camozzi’s MMA wins have come by way of stoppage.
UFC 213 takes place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nev., and features a bantamweight rematch between UFC champion Amanda Nunes and Valentina Shevchenko. In the co-main event, Nunes’ teammate Yoel Romero meets Robert Whittaker for the interim middleweight championship.
