The UFC’s return to Mexico City is getting a new middleweight battle between a couple of fighters on the rise.
Jack Hermansson will step in to face Brad Scott at the Arena Ciudad de Mexico on Aug. 5. The Netherlands-based mmadna.nl was the first to report the fight.
The 28-year old Swedish fighter Hermansson (15-3) is fresh off a victory over Alex Nicholson at UFC Fight Night 109 in Stockholm. He needed only two minutes to put Nicholson away via TKO (strikes), in what was his most emphatic win to date.
Before then “The Joker” has gone 1-1 in the UFC, with a victory over Scott Askham (unanimous decision) and a loss to Cezar Ferreira (submission).
In the 27-year old English fighter Scott, he’ll face a UFC veteran who has gone 3-3 in the UFC (11-4 overall). Scott scored a victory over Askham at UFC Fight Night 107 in London back in March, and also has victories over Dylan Andrews and Michael Kuiper.
UFC Fight Night 114 will feature a flyweight bout between Sergio Pettis and Brandon Moreno in the main event, as well as a middleweight bout between former 205-pound champion Rashad Evan and Sam Alvey.
The main card will air on Fox Sports 1 on August 5.
