One intriguing UFC 214 featherweight matchup has been swapped for another.
Last week came the disappointing news that a knee injury had forced Chan Sung Jung out of his highly anticipated fight with Ricardo Lamas on July 29 at Anaheim’s Honda Center.
But Lamas now has a new foe: Jason Knight, the Mississippi hotshot working his way through the division. MMA Fighting confirmed the news after an initial report made by the Los Angeles Times on Tuesday.
The 24-year-old Knight (17-2) has won four straight fights since dropping his UFC debut in 2015. Knight most recently scored a second-round technical knockout over Chas Kelly at UFC 211 for his 13th career stoppage win.
Lamas (17-5), a former featherweight title challenger, has won two out of his past three fights. In his most recent bout, Lamas scored a second-round submission over Charles Oliveira at UFC Fight Night 98.
