UFC 212 live blog: Paulo Borrachinha vs. Oluwale Bamgbose

This is the UFC 212 live blog for Paulo Borrachinha vs. Oluwale Bamgbose, a middleweight bout at Saturday night's UFC event at the Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Borrachinha, who is 9-0 in his career, will square off against Bamgbose, who has lost two of his past three UFC fights, on the main card.

Round 1: This should be a fun one. Borrachinha a first round finisher. See what happens when he crosses Bamgbose. Bamgbose had to clips his nails right beforehand. The referee is John McCarthy. They come out quick, and Bamgbose circles. Nice little tucked in combo from the New Yorker, and Borrachinha just ate it. Now Bamgbose comes in again, and he’s alive — lots of movement, lots of level play. Grabs a single leg and drives Borrachinha to fence, and gets him down after transitioning to double. Can’t keep him there, though, and as they get up Borrachinha lands a couple of nice shots. They swing in the middle, and Borrachinha says bring it. Again Bamgbose tries for take down, can’t get it — he gets hit on the break, too. Borrachinha being patient, letting things develop. He’s got the crowd behind him on each shot. Already looks like Bamgbose is slowing down. Bamgbose goes low, and throws up top — can’t get anything to land. Big kick from Borrachinha lands, and now another. Starting to turn here, as Borrachinha comes to life — big shots, now on the fence. Body shots. It’s the beginning of the end? Crowd chants, and an elbow from Borrachinha. He is just taking Bamgbose apart. Scramble, as he goes for takedown, can’t get it. Now on the fence, Bamgbose forcing action looking for takedown. He gets it at least momentarily. Some smarts here to get the rest. Looked like it could be over for him, but he ‘s going to finish the round in a neutralizing position. MMA Fighting scores R1 for Borrachinha, 10-9

Round 2: We’ll see what Bamgbose has left here. Was huffing air. He stays on the outside, still on the move, and Borrachinha pursues. Angles. Spinning kick attempt from Bamgbose, and nothing there. Borrachinha slams a body kick into his torso, and the crowd erupts. Now a nice combo from Bamgbose, and now Borrachinha lands a big shot that drops him! He’s standing over him landing right hand follow-ups as McCarthy looks in...and it’s over. Borrachinha gets the finish to move his record to 10-0. Crazy. Great stuff there.
