The Curious Case of Demetrious Johnson.

Bite down on the almost torn mouth piece. Think of all the rage and fear that is instilled inside of the mind. Swing a balled up fists as if they were creations from hell, demolishing whatever they touch.

Or put in a simple form, the beginnings of mixed martial arts.

Similar to a millennial teen, the sport of MMA has grown leaps and bounds from where it once was only a couple of years ago. Where the creme de la creme of fighting revolved around showboating inside of the cage regardless of the beef outside of the octagon, putting on massive knockout performances where the only thing in question is how much blood was splattered, and maybe most of all, holding the gold belt at each the division with the utter most respect.

Many of the values still exist in the sport today as well, but not nearly to the extent as they were in the early 2000's. Just like a a child who's trying to understand the life of an adult at the age of 40, they are simply just different.

What seems to be the eye catching topic in the UFC today is the feud between fighters and the "suits," and to make it easier for the fans to understand, the "suits" have been minimized to one person, Dana White. The latest victim of this internal war? Demetrious Johnson.

Johnson, widely considered the best pound for pound fighter in the sport today, and arguably the greatest fighter to walk this earth, recently began a tirade against the UFC which revolved around the unfair treatment of him as a fighter, and an accusation against Dana White, in which he claimed the UFC president was making Johnson's career an after thought when deciding the champs next bout.

The beginning of this feud began with a potential fight being signed between Johnson and Ray Borg, who is currently 4th in the flyweight rankings. The report of this fight was revealed by Demetrious Johnson, saying that he was offered to fight Ray Borg on August 19th, and that eventually the contract was revoked in White's efforts to create a super fight between Johnson and TJ Dillshaw.

There must be hundreds of articles that have already gone so in depth into the details of the fiasco surrounding the UFC and Demetrious Johnson, but there seems to be a topic that has yet to be discussed.

Promotion has been somehow transformed into an art.

An art, just how wrestling is so crucial to prevent take downs and in sprawls

Just how muy thai is so crucial in the clinch up against the cage.

Promotion has become a martial art of its own, where if a fighter has yet to aquire the skill, their entire career could be one straight path to mediocrity among the blood thirsty, pain seeking, cruel loving fans.

Demetrious Johnson may very well be the greatest fighter on the planet right now, one win away from breaking the record for consecutive title defenses. Yet likened to a 17 year old kid who hasn't hit puberty yet, Johnson needs to grow up fast, and understand what modern mixed martial arts revolves around.

Promotion.
