Sara McMann vs. Ketlen Vieira set for UFC 214

Esther Lin, MMA Fighting

Former UFC bantamweight title challenger Sara McMann is building her case for another shot at the gold.

McMann, the 2004 Olympic wrestling silver medalist, will meet Brazil’s Ketlen Vieira at UFC 214 on July 29 in Anaheim. The bout was originally announced Thursday on the UFC’s Unfiltered podcast.

McMann (11-3), who unsuccessfully challenged Ronda Rousey for the title at UFC 170, has won three consecutive fights, the past two via submission.

Vieira (8-0), of Manaus, Brazil, takes on her biggest challenge to date. Vieira is 2-0 in the UFC, most recently scoring a unanimous decision victory over Ashlee Evans-Smith at UFC on FOX 24.

McMann posted her thoughts about the fight on her Instagram account Thursday.

“So, they announced my next fight!!!” McMann said. “I am happiest when I'm preparing for a fight and as soon as they told me I could feel the wheels turning! I'm still over 8 weeks out, but I'm already excited and ready to secure another submission.”
