Megan Anderson’s next fight will take place under the Invicta FC banner.
The promotion’s featherweight champion will defend her title against Helena Kolesnyk in the main event of Invicta FC 24 on July 15, MMA Fighting has learned. The event will take place at the Scottish Rite Temple in Kansas City, Mo. Invicta is expected to announce the fight shortly.
Anderson (8-2) became Invicta’s interim featherweight champion when she defeated Charmaine Tweet in January. She was named Invicta’s official 145-pound champion after then-champion Cris “Cyborg” Justino vacated the title in March to pursue a UFC career.
Since then, Anderson and Cyborg campaigned aggressively to fight each other in the UFC, but the UFC opted against signing Anderson. At this time, Cyborg isn’t booked yet, but UFC officials are hoping to have her fight Cat Zingano later this year.
The Australian-born Anderson, who now trains out of Kansas City, has won her last four fights in a row.
Kolesnyk (5-0, 1 NC) will be making her Invicta debut. According to Women’s MMA authority MMARising.com, she is currently the eighth best featherweight in the world, while Anderson is ranked fourth.
