Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones are back to beefing again.

The former light heavyweight champion and the current one have a long history of dislike which culminated in Jones defeating Cormier to retain his UFC title at UFC 182. Jones was then stripped of his title for outside-the-cage incidents and Cormier won the vacant belt by submitting Anthony Johnson. Since then, Cormier and Jones have been booked to fight each other several more times but their business has remained unfinished due to injury withdrawals and a failed drug test by Jones. Now however, the UFC is attempting to set a rematch, this time at UFC 214.

Attempting is the operative word though because, despite some reports that the bout is official, yesterday Daniel Cormier took to social media to complain that Jones had yet to sign the bout agreement.

Cormier doubled down on the shots at Jones, calling the former champion “the devil” and saying he would make a deal with him, while goading him with pictures of detox supplements.

In response, Jones appeared in a video with his barber, shooting the bird at Cormier and calling himself the UFC light heavyweight champion.

Of course, Cormier is the light heavyweight champion as Jones was stripped of the title in 2015 and then stripped of his interim title last year after the failed drug test. Cormier didn’t take kindly to the insinuation from Jones, responding on Twitter and then addressing the comments on UFC Tonight on Wednesday.

“What is he talking about? The champ is here? The champ is right here in Los Angeles in this chair. He lost the belt when he ran that pregnant lady over and when he tested positive for steroids. You’re no champion. Sign the damn contract. Enough with these tweets.”

Cormier seems to be embracing the pro-wrestling style trash talk the fans have forced out of him.

Still short a belt.

It is with regret that I have to announce I have had to pull out of my fight with Sergio Pettis this Saturday at UFC 211 due to injury. I really want to apologize to the fans and to Sergio Pettis for this unfortunate event. About two weeks ago I injured my hand sparring, and went to the doctor to get it examined after I was unable to grapple or punch. The doctor looked at x rays and informed me my hand wasn't' broken, so I assumed it was just bruised or sprained. I stopped using my hand for the next week and a half to allow it to rest as much as possible, and I had multiple prp treatments as well as an ultrasound in hopes of breaking up any build up or swelling. After arriving in Dallas on Tuesday evening, I hit mitts with my striking coach to get my timing down, and after I threw my first punch, a sharp pain shot through my wrist and hand. My team and I contacted the UFC to see if a cortisone shot would be allowed. The UFC sent me to a hand specialist, and he told me I had a cyst in my wrist as well as a ruptured capsule with the possibility of a tear in the ligament. He informed me the cortisone shot could possibly do more damage than any benefit and told me it would be insane to fight. He contacted the UFC doctors and informed them that my wrist and hand were unfit to fight this Saturday. I will schedule an appointment with a hand specialist next week and figure out the next course of action. Thank you and I will be back stronger than ever. #photogrid @photogridorg

Respect the effort.

Great thing.

Great fight.

So many fighters being helpful yesterday.

HAHAHAHAHA. I’m not sure Bisping knows, wants, or believes the GSP fight is no more.

Yeah. All 3 of them.

Wow. 1 out of 4 isn’t even great in baseball terms.

Champ in 2018.

Oh shit. Conor giving JJ the bump.

Dana said a lot of things yesterday. You know what that means. By this afternoon, we will have Bisping vs. GSP for the belt confirmed and Anderson vs. Yoel for an interim title this summer.

That’s all for today folks. Have a good one and see y’all tomorrow.
