UFC 210: Cormier vs. Johnson 2 took place April 8 at the KeyBank Center in Buffalo, New York. UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier (19-1) looked to defend his title in a rematch against Anthony Johnson (22-6) in the night's main event, which aired live on pay-per-view. Round 1: Big John McCarthy is the referee for this 205 pound title fight. Rumble presses forward and feinting with his hands a lot. Johnson surprises and goes for a takedown early up against the cage but Cormier defends and they stay clinched. Cormier lands some good elbows as Johnson attacks the legs. Cormier touches the canvas for a second but he's back up quickly. Shocking decisions from Rumble here and now Cormier has a front headlock. Cormier keeps Rumble with his back against the fence. Not a lot of damage but making Rumble work. Rumble can't escape. Gets a bit wild with a high kick in close and Big John separates them. Rumble hurts Cormier a little bit with a head kicks and he's pressing forward throwing wildly. Now Rumble is back to wrestling the legs and the round ends in this position. Johnson possibly scores a takedown as the bell lands but the bell may have sounded before Cormier was down. MMA Fighting scores the fight for Johnson 10-9.
Round 2: Cormier's nose is almost certainly broken, handing from the side of his face like a Picasso. Rumble has switched to southpaw stance and he lands a big knee to the body but Cormier forces Rumble up against the cage. Cormier has a high underhook on the right side and he's using it to keep Rumble against the cage and pepper him with shots. Johnson reverses and gets a takedown but Cormier stands back up immediately. Now Cormier is in on a single and he finishes it and transitions to Johnson's back. Cormier is holding an off-kilter back mount and Cormier is landing consistent shots. Rumble isn't defending and now he might be in trouble. Cormier is under the neck and there's the tap! Daniel Cormier submits Anthony Johnson with a rear-naked choke.
