Al Iaquinta and Mike Perry go back and forth on Twitter

Nashville was the sight of UFC Fight Night 108 last Saturday night, and it doubled — somewhat inadvertently — as the city that spawned a new rivalry.

Namely between Al Iaquinta and Mike Perry.

Perry scored a vicious knockout victory over Jake Ellenberger that night — a knockout that will be in the running for KO of the year at the end of 2017 — and took home a bonus of $50,000. Iaquinta, returning from a two-year hiatus from fighting, knocked out Diego Sanchez in the co-main event.

He did not receive a bonus, and made it very clear to the UFC that he didn’t appreciate that.

Now the two having been having quite a little back and forth on Twitter, with the welterweight Perry going after Iaquinta for his complaints. The lightweight Iaquinta, as you’ll see below, responded in kind.

And then, a little while later...

Perry is 3-1 in the UFC, and 10-1 overall. His only fight that didn’t end in a finish was against Alan Jouban (his only loss) at UFC on FOX 22 in December.

His problems with the UFC notwithstanding, Iaquinta is considered one of the best lightweights going. Since coming up through the cast of The Ultimate Fighter 15, Iaquinta is 8-2, and is currently on a five-fight winning streak. He holds victories over Kevin Lee, Joe Lauzon and Jorge Masvidal.
