A new video of Georges St-Pierre had social media buzzing this week. The former UFC welterweight champion looked a little bit chunky in the midsection. And that’s the kind of thing that Michael Bisping would not let slide, of course.
The wise-cracking Bisping, GSP’s next opponent, poked fun at St-Pierre and his new physique on his “Believe You Me” podcast Wednesday.
“I don’t know what’s going on, to be quite frank,” the UFC middleweight champion said. “But he looks like he’s been impregnated by an alien.”
St-Pierre, 35, has talked about having UFO sightings in the past, but his gut is probably not an homage to a Sigourney Weaver movie. The Canadian star talked in the video about wanting to get bigger for his UFC middleweight debut for the title against Bisping.
“He’s in his typical GSP little spandex tiny shorts, but they’re black, not white,” Bisping said of the video. “He’s got his shin pads and his MMA gloves on. And a gigantic belly sticking. I know he said he’s getting bigger.”
Bisping, 38, thinks the whole thing might be a gag, to get in his head.
“His belly is sticking out and he looks a little weird, so I think he’s having a little fun,” Bisping said. “I think he’s pushing his belly out.”
Bisping said he’ll definitely be defending his title against St-Pierre next, but he doesn’t know then. The UFC wanted it to be the headliner of its annual blockbuster July show, but Bisping said he has been told it’ll be later in the year. Which is fine with him, because he’s healing from a knee injury and said he can’t even straighten out his leg all the way right now.
“GSP is gonna do it,” Bisping said. “It’ll be a little bit later in the year. Listen, we had a press conference. The fans want it, he wants, I want it. It’ll be a big payday. Make a lot of money. I don’t think it’ll be July. I’m 99 percent certain on that. A couple more months later — maybe October.
“But it’s now looking like October is probably more likely.”
