Round 1: Despite his recent struggles, Dan Miragliotta is the referee for this 125 pound title fight. Reis has the center and DJ is circling. Not much action one minute in besides the occasional leg kick. Reis lands an inside leg kick as DJ comes forward and it trips the champion but DJ is back up. DJ lands a good right body kick. Neither guy landing much. Johnson throws a naked leg kick, Reis catches it and gets DJ down for roughly one second before the champion uses a whizzer to stand again. Reis with a lot of pressure and head movement. Jonson is landing slightly more but Reis is staying very good defensively. Johnson's footwork is so good, hes cutting angles on Reis and making him shell up a lot. Reis ducks under a right hand and goes for a takedown but Johnson defends easily. Reis is staying competitive. Johnson lands a couple of very good right hands. The round ends with Reis feinting and coming forward.

MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9 Johnson.

Round 2: Johnson ties up Reis in the center and goes for a foot sweep. It goes no where and they're back to range. Reis has a ton of upper body movement but the feints aren't getting him anywhere. Johnson goes for a snatch single and now he's got the back but Reis separates the hands and then goes for his own takedown. DJ defends and Reis eats a knee to the body for his trouble. Johnson lands a strong straight right hand. He gets a side clinch and fires of some good right hands at Reis. Reis rolls out and they're at range again. Johnson is starting to time rear lead hands to good success. Reis having the occasional moment but they're too few and far in between. Johnson lands a thudding right kick to the body of Reis. Reis looks to be slowing some as Johnson has been building momentum and offense in this round. Reis is shooting more obvious takedowns and DJ is barely even defending. Johnson is really starting to land some good volume as Reis comes forward. Johnson lands a vicious stepping in knee to the body and Reis is dropped and hurt! DJ follows up with punches and Reis recovers guard and is saved by the bell.

MMA Fighting scores the round 10-8 for Johnson.

Round 3: Reis looks mostly recovered from that brutal body shot and it's more of the same: Reis coming forward, Johnson moving and countering. Reis goes for a shot and Johnson stuffs it easily. The speed difference here is now extremely noticeable. Reis goes for another double and Johnson pancakes his head to the floor. Reis tries to pull guard but Johnson stands and then lands a good body kick. Johnson is starting to attack the body with kicks and that could pay dividends. Now Johnson goes high with the kick. All credit to Reis who is still fighting but he hasn't landed anything significant in ages. Johnson lands a step in right hand into a clean double leg finish and he's on top. DJ separates briefly but then goes back on top and in side control. Reis moves and DJ briefly looks for a guillotine but abandons it to maintain top control. The champ is peppering Reis with shots as the challenger works to recover half guard and then butterflies but Johnson lands some big elbows. One of the elbows opens a cut on Reis and then moves to mount. Johnson is battering Reis from mount. Reis rolls and Johnson snatches up the armbar. He gets the tap! Looked almost like a mercy submission as Reis was batter and pouring blood.

UFC Fight Night: Kansas City official result: Demetrious Johnson submits Wilson Reis with an armbar at 4:49 of the third round.
