Three weeks have passed since Cris Cyborg publicly called out UFC titleholder Germaine de Randamie for a UFC 214 showdown, and still, nothing is on the books. And if her recent social media activity is any indication, the women’s pound-for-pound great is getting tired of waiting.
Cyborg turned her attention towards UFC officials on Friday afternoon, calling for the promotion to book her next fight or release her in a tweet that tagged both UFC matchmaker Sean Shelby and UFC president Dana White.
2 weeks my manager call @seanshelby about my next fight but no news! @ufc if you don't want to fight me, release me! #letsgochamp @danawhite pic.twitter.com/E5uzl9Z36l

Last month, Cyborg (17-1, 1 NC) announced that she had vacated her long-held Invicta FC title in an attempt to set up a fight against de Randamie, who captured the inaugural UFC women’s featherweight belt with a divisive victory over Holly Holm at UFC 208. In the callout, the 31-year-old former Strikeforce champion referred to de Randamie as “the No. 1 contender for my title belt.”
“I’m healthy now and I’m strong, and I really want to show my fans why I’m still 10 years undefeated at 145 pounds,” Cyborg said while polishing a golden UFC strap.
“July 29th, the UFC will be in south California, and I would like to fight in my backyard in America in Anaheim, California. So, Germaine, I hope your hand is healthy enough to accept my challenge.”
Cyborg, 31, is unbeaten dating back to her professional debut in 2005. She has long been considered one of the best female fighters in the world, if not the very best. She briefly looked to be in hot water with USADA after testing positive for the banned substance diuretic spironolactone in December, however Cyborg was ultimately granted a retroactive TUE by USADA and cleared to return to active competition.
When that return will come, though, is still up in the air.
