UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier was one of five fighters to receive a medical suspension stretching a minimum of 45 days in the aftermath of UFC 210, according to information released Tuesday by the New York State Athletic Commission (NYSAC).
Cormier submitted top-ranked contender Anthony Johnson via second-round rear-naked choke to defend his light heavyweight title in the night’s main event. As a result of damage sustained in the contest, he will be forced to sit out a minimum of 45 days while being required to receive NYSAC clearance to return to active competition.
The four other fighters who received similar 45-day suspensions were: Chris Weidman, Patrick Cote, Mike De La Torre, and Josh Emmett.
UFC 210 took place April 8 at the KeyBank Center in Buffalo, New York. The night’s main card aired live on pay-per-view.
