Round 1:
Referee is John McCarthy for this fight. Big moment for Evans here. And likewise, in a different way, for Kelly. They touch gloves. Evans in the low crouch with his right hand cocked, and Kelly moves in. Southpaw Kelly wheeling around him waving his right. Right hand from Kelly misses, and Evans throws a high kick (blocked). Kelly with a right hand, and Evans right now very deliberate. Maybe sizing things up. Nice left hand from Kelly. That was flush. Right hand from Evans lands, and that was crisp. Right hand again from Evans, and Kelly trying to time out a left — and he throws it and that buckled Evans a wee bit. Whoa. Evans looks okay, though, and he shoots in for a takedown off the threat of an overhand right. Kelly so strong, though, and able to move Evans off him bodily and get up. Kelly with a nice left hand. Some blood on Kelly's face. But he's a battler, as he lands another left hand. Knee from Rashad, and now in the clinch, Kelly blasts him with a series of uppercuts. Heavy body kick from Kelly towards the end of the round there. Close, close round. MMA Fighting scores R1 for Evans, 10-9.

Round 2: Trip from Kelly after an exchange, and that sent Evans off balance. Clinch in the middle, and Kelly still throwing in there. Landing from that spot, and off the break. Evans just took a shot there, and now they waltz in close across the cage. Evans drops low for a takedown, can't get it. Huge trip there from Kelly, and as they get up big knee from Evans. Great exchange. Each man getting his. Eye poke there from Evans, and now McCarthy halts the action a minute. Looking at Kelly. Back at it. Right eye seems okay. Body kick from Kelly to get rolling again. And now a left hand. Just keeping Evans off balance by being stout and dedicated to his plan here. Another combo from Kelly, with the right hand clipping Rashad on the end note. Single leg after Kelly committed from Evans, and he tries to get something going, can't, and Kelly back up. Big kick attempt from Evans as he stood, but mostly blocked. Left straight down the pipe from Kelly. And now a high kick. Big high kick from Evans, and Kelly catches it and tries to leverage him to the canvas while he was on a single leg. Evans took some lumps in that round; Kelly a tough man. MMA Fighting scores R2 for Kelly, 10-9 (19-19 overall)

Round 3:
Kelly wanted to touch gloves to start the last round, and Evans reluctantly obliged him. Kelly to the center of the cage, still pressuring, and another trip there from Kelly. He's been busy. He's probably winning the stand-up here. Nice uppercut from Evans right as Kelly came in, and that was nice. Crisp, stiil with mustard. There's another trip from Kelly, but Evans bounce back up. Southpaw keeping Evans off guard a little bit, hard to deal with. They clinch in the middle, and Kelly slams home a couple of right uppercuts, Evans lands a nice punch too. Left uppercut from Kelly lands! That snaps Evans head back. Now he throws Evans down again, and — like rubber — Evans bounces back up. The in-fighting has belonged to Kelly later in the fight, and again he makes most of the clinch. Evans right a right hand. Evans with a great combination, and those shots land, and McCarthy warns Evans not to grab the shorts. That broke momentum. Or did it? Now they swing from the fences! The round ends with them standing in the pocket laying waste to one another. Great end. Could go either way! MMA Fighting scores R3 for Evans (29-28 for Evans overall).
