Sergio Moraes has a new opponent for next week’s UFC Fight Night 106 event in Fortaleza, Brazil.
Max Griffin, who was scheduled to face the Brazilian jiu-jitsu specialist on March 11, announced Thursday on his Facebook page that he was advised to pull out of the welterweight bout due to an undisclosed injury, and the promotion has signed Davi Ramos to replace him at the event.
MMA Fighting confirmed the news following a report by Combate.
Moraes (11-2-1), who had his opponent changed in three of his last four UFC fights, is undefeated as a welterweight under the promotion’s banner with five wins and one draw.
Ramos (6-1), a fellow jiu-jitsu specialist, enters the UFC after scoring a pair of wins in 2016. The former RFA and Bellator fighter, who won a gold medal at ADCC 2015 in Sao Paulo, finished five of his six MMA wins.
UFC will return to Fortaleza for the first time since 2013 in a Fight Night show headlined by Vitor Belfort vs. Kelvin Gastelum.
