Kelvin Gastelum and Edson Barboza take home performance bonuses at UFC Fight Night Fortaleza

While one of them got the lively crowd in Fortaleza, Brazil on their feet, the other one silenced them for the night.

Edson Barboza’s highlight reel knockout of Beneil Dariush on the UFC Fight Night 106 main card on Saturday night was a thing of beauty. He landed a perfectly-timed flying knee just as Dariush was coming in, a blow that left Dariush out cold.

The knockout was enough to earn the lightweight Barboza a Performance of the Night bonus.

Another of the $50,000 POTN bonuses went to Kelvin Gastelum, who in his second fight since returning to 185 pounds knocked out Brazil’s own Vitor Belfort in the first round. The 25-year-old Gastelum punished Belfort, knocking him down earlier in the round, and then dropping him for good with a wicked left hand later on.

The end came at 3:52 of the first, which left the partisan crowd silent.

Also earning POTN bonuses were Michael Pazares, who scored a first-round submission of veteran Josh Burkman (north-south choke), and Paulo Henrique Costa, who defeated Gareth McClellan via first-round TKO (punches).

Both Pazares and “Borrachinha” took home an additional $50,000 as well.

No Fight of the Night bonus was handed out.
