For the better part of the third round, Marion Reneau was the fighter was always suspected was in there somewhere, but never quite was able to previously show in the UFC Octagon.

Reneau was a dynamo in the final round of her UFC Fight Night 106 bantamweight with former title challenge Bethe Correia, throwing everything but the kitchen sink at her Brazilian opponent in Forteleza.

The footnote on this, though, was that Correia was the better fighter in the first two rounds. So while the spirited round saved Reneau from defeat, the 10-8 third served to forge a well-contested majority draw. There were two 28-28s to a 29-27 for Reneau from the judges.

The opening round was a fairly close affair, but Correia managed to stymie most of Reneau’s offense and land solid counters. This was more pronounced in he second, Correia’s best of the fight.

Reneau seemed to be fading at the end of round two, but she came out like a house of fire, wobbling Correia with a head kick, getting her to the mat, and spending most of the round raining down strikes. Correia somehow managed to survive to the horn.

Reneau is now 7-3-1 with a draw and a win in her past two fights. Correia is 10-2-1 with a draw and two wins.
