It's finally here, namely, UFC 209. But more than that, it feels like the first big fight week week of the year. That's a little bizarre because this event isn't expected to be a blockbuster in terms of live gate returns or pay-per-view buys. As I write this in Las Vegas, I don't get the sense that it's particularly noteworthy in this town. But for dedicated followers of the sport, this is an exceptional moment. The prelim card is not great, but the main card is. More especially the main event is sensational and the co-main is basically as good as MMA gets. We'll break down every angle of this week and what to expect.

Then there have been a slew of interesting announcements from the UFC that are worth discussing. Demian Maia will face off against Jorge Masvidal, but it's not clear how much he wants to. John Dodson will lock horns with Eddie Wineland, Alexander Gustafsson will face off with Glover Teixeira and so much more. We'll discuss these as well.

Plus, there's an assortment of other news and notes. Holly Holm's appeal to the NYSAC was denied, Rashad Evans finally returns to action and so on.
