Alexander Gustafsson vs. Glover Teixeira targeted for UFC’s return to Stockholm

Esther Lin, MMA Fighting

Two of the best light heavyweights in the world are currently slated to meet later this year.

According to multiple sources, the UFC is working on booking Alexander Gustafsson vs. Glover Teixeira for an event in Stockholm, Sweden on May 28. As it stands, the fight would serve as the main event.

The light-heavyweight contenders were originally scheduled to meet at UFC Fight Night: Berlin in June 2015, however, an injury suffered by Gustafsson forced him out of the fight at the time.

Gustafsson (17-4) recently snapped a two-fight losing streak when he beat Jan Blachowicz via unanimous decision in September. The Swedish fighter was scheduled to return to action in November against Antonio Rogerio Nogueira but withdrew from the fight due to another injury.

Teixeira (26-5) is coming off a win over Jared Cannonier earlier this month at UFC 208.

The yet-to-be announced event will mark the promotion’s fifth trip to Stockholm.
