Bubba Jenkins (Bellator) Bellator

Bubba Jenkins, the blue chip wrestling prospect turned mixed martial artist, has been released by Bellator.

As first reported by The MMA Report, Jenkins was recently made a free agent, nearly six months after losing a bout against Georgi Karakhanyan at Bellator 160. Bellator officials confirmed the news to MMA Fighting on Tuesday.

Jenkins is an 11-time Bellator veteran, who had an 8-3 record with the promotion. He came to Bellator a decorated collegiate wrestler, having won a Division I championship while wrestling at Arizona State University in 2011 (157 pounds). He debuted in 2013 against Mike Barrares, scoring a second-round TKO.

Jenkins was upset in his follow-up match against LaRue Burley, losing via third-round TKO. Since that time he has gone 7-2, with his only losses coming against the former WSOF lightweight champion Karakhayan.

His last fight under the Bellator banner occurred at a catchweight (160 pounds), as Karakhanyan was unable to make weight.
