UFC 208 live blog: Holly Holm vs. Germaine de Randamie

This is the UFC 208 live blog for Holly Holm vs. Germaine de Randamie, a featherweight bout at Saturday night's UFC event at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

Holm, who has won three of her past five fights, will face de Randamie, who has won four of her past five fights, on the main card.

Round 1: Main event time, for the inaugural featherweight title. They touch gloves. de Randamie stands in the middle, and Holm — admittedly a nervous starter at times — bounces on the outside. Holm moves in with a flurry, but de Randamie out of there quick. Holm with a leg kick. A lap around the whole ring for Holm, who is giving de Randamie a moving target. Nice little right hand there from Holm, who is attacking that lead leg of de Randamie's too. GDR doing a nice job of staying out of range, getting in and out. Right hand from de Randamie lands flush as Holm comes in, and that stung! Holm again back on her bicycle, rolling. Leg kicks from the Albquerque fighter. She is going after that. When Holm committed that time to move in, de Randamie just planted and throw a short jab right down the boulevard, which landed. Oblique kick from Holm, and she tries for a clinch, only to get tripped down momentarily. They go to the fence when she gets back up, and Holm trying to lift her off her feet and dump her. Can't do it. de Randamie sturdy on the fence. The round ends with them in a clinch on the fence. MMA Fighting scores R1 for de Randamie, 10-9.

Round 2: Obique kick from Holm, who again begins on the outside. Nice exchange there, heated, and Holm with a body kick. Now she lands a nice one-two, and de Randamie stands in for a stiff counter. Holm again attacking the lead leg, with side kicks and obliques. Red welt there on de Randamie's thigh. de Randamie with a nice punch there that gave Holm momentary pause. They clinch and Holm puts her on the fence. Holm trying to lift her off the fence and dump her on the canvas. The Dutchwoman won't budge. Crown reacts to the stall. Now Holm squatting trying to hoist her by the hips, and the knees start to come up. Holm's and de Randamie's. Getting violent inside. Holm, a very audible striker, landing elbows to her thighs. They continue to clinch as they dance all the way to the other side of the cage, stuck in an interlocked set of limbs, and Holm remains the offensive threat. She posts de Randamie, who spins out and they clinch near the middle. Tight quarters here, and the action is mostly knees as far as incoming shots. Holm not about to relinquish. De Randamie lands a stiff right hand right at the bell, and that rocked Holm — crowd though it was late. MMA Fighting scores R2 for de Randamie, 10-9 (20-18 overall)

Round 3: De Randamie in the center, and Holm moves. She gets kicked hard by a de Randamie right leg, audibly in the thigh. That stung a bit. Side kick from Holm, who has been active with that. Another oblique kick, the Jackson's special. We see Jon Jones do that one a lot. Clinch there, and Holm tries to remove de Randamie's head on the break — missed that shot. The clash right in the middle, and Holm might have gotten the better of that exchange. A series of oblique kicks from Holm. She continues to attack the lead leg, and de Randamie pressures. Holm catches her and pushes her to the fence, and de Randamie reverses there. Big left hand there from de Randamie. Hom with a nice shot on parting, and they reset. Holm trying to pick her entry points, but de Randamie is doing a good job of mixing it up. Big exchange right at the end. Again de Randamie landed a right hand right at the bell that some of the crowd thought was late. MMA Fighting scores R3 for Holm, 10-9 (29-28 for de Randamie overall)

Round 4: They clinch, and in that clinch the move to the fence where Holm goes to work. A lot of the fight spend in these skirmishes. Holm posting, and fishing out a sinle leg. Gives that up and right now content to just lay bodily into de Randamie, who is just trying to revolve out. Holm has a pretty clear game plan to rough the kickboxer up when on that fence, take away her offense. Ref says enough, and he breaks them. Now operating from range, Holm goes to work with the leg kicks again, in both varieties. Holm an errant combo, and now she moves in again and lands a knee to de Randamie's ribs. It was a kick that de Randamie moves up on. Big shot there from de Randamie, and she hacks Holm with a leg kick while she was off balance. Holm responds by latching onto de Randamie again, and shoving her back to the fence, which the crowd doesn't appreciate. From the clinch, they exchange knees to each other's thighs. Now they roll to another post, and the toil continues. Referee watching close as we get near the end of the round. A knee to Holm's head late, and that's it for the round,as the crowd lets them know about it. MMA Fighting scores R4 for Holm, 10-9 (38-38 overall)

Round 5: Holm with the low kicks early, hacking away at de Randamie, who has not really seemed affected by those. Holm is a competitor, though. Just walking through shots, too. She has some marks on her face, and she's taken some punishment, but she is on. Holm lands a shot that momentarily drops de Randamie to her knee, and that parlays into a takedown attempt — and right back into the fence they go, with Holm pressing the life out of de Randamie. Holm gets very low, and she's trying to get that takedown. Referee breaks them up (mercifully, to believe the crowd). They exchange, and now Holly drives de Randamie right back into the fence. This really pisses the crowd off. Holm goes back to work there. Knees from de Randamie in that space, and Holm took that one in the ribs. They roll along that fence, and Holm kneeing the Dutchwoman. Crowd hates this. But Holm is dogged in this pursuit. She tries to hoist her up. Can't. Now they are squaring for one last moment. Kicks, and Holm with a nice right hand. That's it. Anybody's fight.
