Randy Brown has gotten a fair measure of hype over the past year after being signed to the UFC off the “Lookin’ for a Fight” web series.

Belal Muhammad has gotten no such push, but that didn’t stop him from earning a victory Saturday night in Brown’s backyard.

Muhammad (11-2) used punishing leg kicks to neutralize Brown’s length and reach advantage and defeat the Queens native in Brooklyn’s Barclays Center at UFC 208. The judges’ scores were a pair of 30-27s and a 29-28 for a unanimous decision.

Muhammad set the tone in the opening round as he landed 34 leg kicks, never allowing Brown to get his offense untracked. Brown found better success in the second round, landing solid jabs and overhands, but Muhammad scored a takedown and landed brutal hammerfists in the round’s closing minute.

By the third round, Muhammad left little doubt after scoring an early takedown and working him over from the top and keeping him there until the fight’s waning moments.

Muhammad, a Chicago native, has won two of his past three fights. Brown, fighting for the fifth time in less than 13 months, dropped to 9-2, 3-2 in the UFC.
