ONE Championship 52 results: Ev Ting gets the nod over Kamal Shalorus

ONE Championship

ONE Championship returned to Kuala Lumpur on Friday with a seven-fight card, and Ev Ting pulled out the win in front of his countrymen in Malaysia.

Holding a 6-1 record under the ONE Championship banner with five of those wins coming by way of stoppage, Ting took on UFC and WEC veteran Kamal Shalorus, who was coming off a loss to Shinya Aoki, in the main event.

Shalorus knocked Ting early in the bout, but the 27-year-old talent came back up right away. Ting returned better in the second and third rounds, landing several leg kicks and one good flying knee, while Shalorus insisted on throwing wild punches.

After 15 minutes, two of the three judges scored the bout in Ting’s favor, moving his MMA record to 13-3 with four straight victories. Shalorus, on the other hand, drops to 2-2 inside the ONE Championship cage after his second straight defeat.

In the co-main event, Agilan Thani had no trouble improving to 7-0 in his professional MMA career against Jeff Huang. Thani took the fight to the ground in the opening round, getting the mount and then getting to his opponent’s back, but the finish only came in the second round, when Thani scored his fourth MMA win via rear-naked choke.

Thani called out ONE welterweight champion Ben Askren after the bout, saying he would fight Askren "for free", and the champion quickly responded on social media.

The only female fight of the card featured Ann Osman and Vy Frey Khouch, and Osman made her opponent pay for her first mistake. Khouch threw a body kick and Osman caught it, quickly taking the fight to the ground. After getting the mount, the 30-year-old fighter landed dozens of punches until the referee stopped the contest with two seconds left in the opening round.

Undefeated featherweight prospects Herbert Burns and Movlid Khaibulaev battled to see who would stay unbeaten in MMA, and the Russian talent gave Burns no chance in the bout. Khaibulaev rocked Burns early with a hard right hand that knocked him down, and kept connecting the best strikes throughout three rounds to win a clear decision.
