UFC 219 live blog: Dan Hooker vs. Marc Diakiese

This is the UFC 219 live blog for Marc Diakiese vs. Dan Hooker, a lightweight showdown at Saturday night's UFC event at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Round 1: Herb Dean the referee for this bout. Tentative, low volume start. Neither man landing anything of consequence in the first 90 seconds. Spin kick by Diakiese misses. Crowd getting restless. Halfway through the round and there’s been little action. Nice jab by Hooker. Diakiese throwing low kicks. Body kick lands for Hooker, Diakiese catches it and lunges in with a punch. Leg kick by Diakiese. Hooker with the kick to the body. Takedown by Hooker, Diakiese gets his back against the cage.

Round 2: Diakiese coming out more aggressive in the second frame. They trade leg kicks. Hooker dodges a looping left hook. Body kick by Hooker. Short uppercut by Diakiese lands. Hooker with the straight right and Diakiese clinches up. Hooker with the advantage against the cage. They reset back in the center of the Octagon. Knee to the body by Diakiese. Takedown by Hooker, he’s on Diakiese’s back. Hooker looking to get his hooks in, gets a body triangle instead. More boos from the crowd as the fighters settle into this position.
