Julian Marquez’s first fight in the UFC proved to be a fruitful one.
Not only did Marquez defeat Darren Stewart by second-round submission, he and Stewart were given the Fight of the Night award for their thrilling preliminary scrap at UFC on FOX 26 at the Bell MTS Place in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on Saturday.
Marquez, a recent signee from Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series, and Stewart both picked up $50,000 bonuses for the first time.
The two Performance of the Night honors went to Alessio Di Chirico, for his second-round knee knockout of Oluwale Bamgbose, and Nordine Taleb, who needed just 59 seconds to KO Danny Roberts. Di Chirico and Taleb are also first-time bonus winners.
